How to Assess Equine Fetal Viability by Transrectal Ultrasound Evaluation of Fetal Peripheral Pulses
نویسندگان
چکیده
The most significant ultrasound parameters indicating viability of the equine fetus include fetal heart rate and fetal activity. Abnormal patterns in fetal heart rate reactivity represent the most sensitive indicator of fetal compromise. In advanced to late gestation, the fetal cardiac area becomes quite inaccessible to an ultrasound examination per rectum. Peripheral arterial pulses may be used instead to evaluate changes in fetal heart rate. Fetal external carotid pulse is easily accessible by ultrasound examination per rectum in advanced gestation and may provide a useful diagnostic tool for the clinician in practice. Biological Effect of Modern Fetal Ultrasound Techniques on Human Dermal Fibroblast Cells
Background: Diagnostic ultrasound has been used to detect human disease especially fetus abnormalities in recent decades. Although the harmful effects of diagnostic ultrasound on human have not been established so far, several researchers showed it has had bioeffects in cell lines and in experimental animals. Three-dimensional (3D), four-dimensional (4D), and color Doppler sonography are new te...
متن کاملRetained Fetal Bone in Infertile Patients: Two Case Reports
The prolonged retention of fetal bone structure is an uncommon condition after a previous abortion. We describe two cases with fetal bone fragment amongst 3589 hysteroscopies (0.05%) who had no complaint other than secondary infertility. In both patients hyperechogenic areas were found through transvaginal ultrasound and the bones were removed by hysteroscopy. Despite meticulous evaluation duri...

Over the past 25 years the rate of twin and higher - order multifetal birth have increased between 1980 and 2005. The twining rate rose from 18.9 to 32.1 per 1000 live birth. Multifetal gestations are at high risk of fetaland complication such as; growth restricted fetal death, LBW and cerebral palasy. Maternal complication are that also increased such as: preeclampsia, diabetes, maternal death...

This report considers the equine intrauterine conceptus from the time of entry from the oviduct as a blastocyst to expulsion as a foal. A series of events involving physical interactions between the uterus and conceptus will be highlighted, and the associated morphologic and physiologic aspects will be considered. Most of the events were discovered and characterized by transrectal ultrasonic im...
